CPC framework use drives savings in Tonbridge

Published

By Ashley Cox

As registered members of Crescent Purchasing Consortium for almost a decade, Tonbridge Grammar School used CPC's Insurance & Associated Services procurement framework to purchase top-up insurance for a recent construction project.

Based in the market town of Tonbridge, Kent, Tonbridge Grammar School is a selective grammar school with academy status, educating girls between 11 and 16 and offering a mixed Sixth Form. Founded in 1905, the school has around 1,000 students.

Having registered for free CPC membership in 2016, Tonbridge Grammar recently used Lot 3 of CPC’s Insurance & Associated Services framework - an agreement launched in its current incarnation in February 2025, which has since secured the coveted Recommendation of the Department for Education (DfE) in the Schools and Academies category.

Lot 3 of Insurance and Associated Services enables academies, multi-academy trusts, free schools, maintained schools and special schools that are signed up to the DfE’s Risk Protection Arrangement to access peripheral covers outside of its scope.

Among the kind of things that fall within the lot’s wide-ranging remit are engineering damage, motor vehicles and cyber risk, while, in the case of Tonbridge Grammar’s procurement, school staff purchased top-up insurance for a construction project.

Jeremy Kenyon is Facilities and Estates Manager at Tonbridge Grammar School and oversaw proceedings. He informed us how the school found the tender process and Quote Tool provided by Crescent Purchasing Consortium to be "intuitive and simple".

"We were procuring a fairly niche product, so it was useful to be able to go straight to relevant suppliers", Jeremy elaborated.

"The framework was relatively simple to use and allowed us to target potential suppliers directly, with a quick response time”.

Ultimately, through using CPC’s framework, Tonbridge Grammar made a welcome saving of around £300, while procuring the additional cover they needed.
