Managing Director Peter Brewer retires from CPL Group after 22 years

Published

On Friday 30th July, a chapter in CPC history ended as the founder and Managing Director of the company, Peter Brewer embarked on his retirement.

Peter was actively involved in the creation of the CPC back in 1999, as an arm of the purchasing department at The University of Salford, following his role there as Purchasing Advisor, assisting the university with their procurement activities. Peter formed and developed the consortium to fill a gap in the provision of reliable and best-value frameworks for the FE sector. Our services proved to be so useful that the FE sector bought the company in 2009, at which point we achieved charitable status.

22 years later and CPC is one of the organisations which makes up the charity Crescent Purchasing Limited (CPL Group). Peter’s original concept has become a market-leading procurement organisation and education sector charity employing 72 employees nationwide and has recently been officially recognised as a Great Place to Work. CPL Group have provided over 1 million pounds of funding and support to the education sector since forming. Peter has been instrumental in building CPL Group and he is immensely proud of the organisation and the people, both past and present, who have worked with him along the way.

CPL Group hosted a retirement party for Peter on Friday 6th August at Hotel Football in Manchester with food and drinks to say a huge thank you to Peter. The team also presented Peter with an MP3 Walkman as part of a retirement gift, which was deemed very appropriate considering the avid music fan he is, which was then followed by a speech given by Peter’s successor; newly appointed Managing Director Darren Lowe. To conclude his speech, Darren said: “I consider it an honour to be taking over from Peter and I sincerely hope we do him proud in continuing to build the brand and the market share that we are inheriting.”

CPL Group would like to thank Peter for everything he has done for CPL Group over the years and would like to wish him a healthy and happy retirement for many years to come!
