Based in Salford, Greater Manchester Crescent Purchasing is looking for a full-time Contracts & Procurement Officer to join our Contracting Team.

Position: Contracts & Procurement Officer
Location: Salford, Manchester
Salary: £22,500 - £24,000 (depending on experience) + performance related bonus, 27 holidays per annum plus Bank Holidays, LGPS pension scheme, flexible working
Duration: Permanent

About the Role

This role will be part of a team which provides a professional purchasing service to all members of the Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC). You will assist with the letting, managing and monitoring of frameworks including contract management and will be required to undertake a course of study leading to full membership of CIPS. This will be funded by the company as part of your training agreement.

Some of the key duties you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the letting, managing and monitoring of assigned frameworks and contracts, including aiding with the tendering process and contract management protocols
  • Acquiring and displaying relevant market knowledge on commodity areas as directed
  • Working in a professional manner under supervision to support the CPC in achieving best value for money for customers
  • Acquiring knowledge and skills to be able to answer internal and external queries, using relevant purchasing techniques to help provide a full purchasing advisory service to the CPC dealing with all queries in a professional and courteous manner
  • Undertaking formal EU tenders as required by the Contracting Team under supervision, using standard CPC contract and tender documentation, amended where necessary and appropriate. With support, developing detailed tender scoring criteria for the specific tendering exercises being undertaken

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing their career in procurement and is willing to study for the CIPS (The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) professional qualification from level 4 to level 6 full MCIPS. The successful candidate* will have:

  1. Reasonable experience of working within a professional purchasing environment assisting in the acquisition of a range of commodities and services
  2. Level 3 qualification in either a procurement (CIPS Advanced Certificate) or Business related discipline including business administration, economics, finance, accountancy etc;
    or
    Minimum of 2 A Levels (or international equivalent) one of which must be in a business related discipline
  3. Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) grade C pass in mathematics and English language
