Bradford College Use Business Moves for a Full Move and Relocation Services

Bradford College

Removal, Relocation, Archiving & Secure Storage Services Framework

The brief

As part of Bradford College's migration from their existing four sites to the fantastic new David Hockney building, the College required management for a full move and relocation service, together with an environmental solution for the resale or disposal of all redundant furniture.

BMG LogoAfter conducting a detailed tender process with all contracted suppliers on the CPC framework for removals, BMG were appointed.

The Project

As part of BMG full Green Routes solution for the clearance of redundant furniture and equipment and by utilising our unique furniture resale service, BMG was able to sell a large proportion of catering equipment and hair and beauty products on behalf of the college. This not only substantially reduced the overall costs, but also reduced the college carbon foot print by redistributing the equipment in to the local community.

Via a charity partner, BMG redistributed 2 containers of redundant class room furniture to Pakistan, where the furniture was desperately required, gaining the college not only a high degree of satisfaction, but also some very good PR.

To summarise:

Within the allotted 6 week relocation period, BMG relocated over 3000 crates, 1500 pieces of desk top IT equipment, as well as a large amount of legacy furniture and teaching aids. They also cleared the Westbrook building and the Appleton building of all redundant furniture and equipment to enable the college to hand these buildings back to the contractor.

The benefits

BMG appointed Gareth Smith as Lead Move Manager. Gareth quickly integrated into not only the college’s migration and procurement team, but also those of the individual departments involved.

As part of his role, he created a critical path diary to identify all key dates for the move programme. Using the vast amount of experience gained in delivering similar projects, Gareth was able to bring specific skills to the college. He was able to provide best practice, guidance and advice throughout the planning and implementation of the project. Innovative thinking by the BMG team saved the college valuable revenue.

The solution

All works were delivered in allocated time scales and to forecasted costs.

“I do not believe as a college we could have completed the moves without the project management provided by BMG. They were organised, professional and responsive to all our needs and last minute changes, demonstrating their best practice internal systems and full understanding of working with colleges.”

John Smith, Bradford College
