Studio success for college via CPC framework

Tenured CPC members Oldham College utilised the Broadcasting Equipment and Integration Services framework last summer for a major TV studio renovation project, helping give students a head start in their prospective media careers.

This contract was centred around the supply and installation of Audio, Vision and Lighting Equipment. It was won by approved CPC framework suppliers Digital Garage via Lot 1, inclusive of the supply of high-quality furniture, cabling and custom orders.

During this process, Digital Garage were able to provide upgrades or higher-performing items than were initially planned, to help enhance the experience of Oldham College students. An example of this was the newsroom desk. Digital Garage were able to utilise their own manufacturing resources to craft a bespoke, purpose-built presenter’s desk to accommodate easy accessibility and meet additional needs, while also looking great on camera. 

Project managed by Account Manager, Ben Hall and designer, Andrew Shenton, the team at Digital Garage went above and beyond expectations for our member institution, personalising the whole process and tailoring it to the needs of the college.

Account Manager for Digital Garage, Ben Hall, who helped to oversee the project, said: “I ensured I kept in touch with Joe throughout the whole process after acceptance of our tender, highlighting key dates and objectives to him throughout the entire process of procurement of equipment and suggesting cost-effective changes to guarantee it met their needs. I personally took time to review the tender based on further conversations with Joe and suggested relevant changes. This included providing high-spec models at the same price (such as with the televisions) and adapting the furniture to offer bespoke solutions, providing custom finishes in material and colour to meet their brand".

When needed, we ensured certain items, such as the cabling, were on-site before the rest of the equipment. I worked extremely closely with Joe throughout the entire process, keeping him informed of each element and ensuring Oldham College had a positive experience.

Ben’s exceptional efforts in support of Oldham College's procurement was recognised internally by Digital Garage, by way of their own Above and Beyond award, which allows staff to nominate colleagues who have achieved exactly this type of thing.
