Head of Procurement
I began my career with Tenet in January 2015 as a Procurement Consultant. I knew from the interview that I would be joining a great company that took pride in their work and valued their staff. I could see that the Manager and Managing Director were happy, relaxed and easy to get on with. They were warm and welcoming during the interview, which immediately put me at ease. When I got the call to say they were offering me the full-time role, I was over the moon!
To begin with I was assigned to one college for two days per week, whilst working from home on one-off projects the rest of the time, before being assigned to another college for two additional days per week. Even though I spent some of my time working alone, I always felt that I could pick up the phone to anyone at Tenet to bounce ideas around or ask for advice.
Both colleges were different in what they required from me. At one, I ran the entire procurement function from within the Finance team, which included spend analysis, giving advice, tendering, outsourcing, and making huge savings. At the other college, I was part of a large procurement team, mentoring the Procurement Officers and managing complex projects. This made for a varied working week with no possibility of being bored! I enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing the projects completed, meeting new people, and integrating myself into the college teams.
In April 2017 I was appointed to the position of Regional Procurement Manager, and my role now includes supporting and advising my staff, creating strong relationships within the team, with clients and with suppliers, and following up new business leads. My team of ten fantastic Procurement Consultants provide support to 17 clients across the North of England.
I can honestly say that joining Tenet was a fantastic career decision. I am proud to be part of the company and proud to be part of a highly knowledgeable, professional, friendly and supportive team.
