Our Regional Procurement Advisors are available to provide face-to-face support and assistance to CPC members free of charge.

The advisors are there to help you get the most out of your membership to the CPC, and to provide hands on support for using our services. Get in touch if you wish to know more about our frameworks, or for more information about:

  • EU compliance
  • Who to contact for services not covered by the CPC
  • Good procurement practice
  • Dealing with any local supplier issues
  • Resources for further procurement advice and guidance
  • PAG (Procurement Advisory Group) Regional Procurement meetings, CPC conference and training workshops

In addition to individual visits, the advisors are available for presentations to groups of College staff / School and Academy Business Manager groups. They can also provide remote support and assistance covering all of the above if this is more convenient for you.

Joanna Frost Eastern Region, London, East Midlands (excluding Derbyshire), South East (excluding Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire)

Joanna is MCIPS qualified and has 10+ years experience in public sector procurement, previously working as a Procurement Consultant, supporting schools, academies and colleges in tendering a wide range of goods and services, specialising in facilities management tendering. Joanna also held the position of National Procurement Advisor for the Association of Colleges providing support and guidance to the FE sector on a range of procurement activities such as the impact of EU procurement regulations, promotion of procurement collaboration, provision of a procurement helpdesk and development of procurement website (FELP).

Karen Edmeads South West, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and South Wales

Karen has joined us from the private sector, has 20 years of procurement experience and is MCIPS qualified. She has extensive experience of procuring goods and services across a broad range of categories such as travel and events, vehicles and ancillary equipment, IT software, network infrastructure, training and consultancy, energy. She also has experience of compliance with EU environmental legislation and its impact on businesses, which is good grounding for gaining deeper knowledge of EU procurement legislation and the compliance obligations impacting the FE sector.

Linda Carney (On Extended Sickleave)

Linda joined the CPC in August 2014 and is MCIPS qualified. Linda worked as Procurement Officer for Cleveland Fire & Rescue Service for over 5 years and prior at Middlesbrough College for 6 years. Her role as Regional Procurement Advisor for the North & North East provides face to face advice, guidance, support & training to members on all aspects of Procurement.

Louise Ashcroft North West, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, East Yorkshire & Humber

Louise joined CPC in August 2019 and has 5+ years’ experience of working in procurement, a wide knowledge of EU Legislation and is MCIPS qualified. She has extensive experience of procuring goods across a wide range of categories including, outsourced catering, energy, insurance and many more projects, latterly at Preston College. Prior to this she worked within the public sector and gained invaluable experience working with other councils within the North West on collaborative procurements.

Sara King West Midlands, North Wales and Derbyshire

Sara is MCIPS qualified and has more than 20 years procurement experience mostly in the public sector but originally in the private sector. She worked as Regional Procurement Manager for the Association of Colleges West Midlands, providing procurement advice and support to colleges within the region, and was also involved in bidding for and managing projects to support training activity in the FE sector mainly related to governance. Prior to this, Sara worked The 6th Form College, Solihull as a Procurement Officer managing tender programmes, carrying out spend analysis, identifying and achieving efficiencies and raising procurement awareness throughout the college. Previous roles have included a Strategy Advisor Role in Severn Trent Water’s Purchasing Department, and buying and contracts roles within utilities, police, and the NHS, and manufacturing.

Tracey Hindmarsh North East & East Yorkshire

Tracey Joined the CPC in August 2019 coming from a local government background. She has had 15 years’ experience of public sector procurement working for Gateshead Council and is MCIPS qualified. She has had experience of procuring goods and services over a wide range of categories, including facilities management, transport services and vehicle purchasing, school meal services and general catering requirements. She has a good understanding of the EU regulations providing procurement advice to local authority services and has experience of working on collaborative procurement projects with other north east Councils.
