Vehicle leasing guidance

Members who may be considering leasing vehicles through the CPC should visit the Vehicle Hire, Car Club and Leasing framework page. Whilst we also have a framework that covers Leasing Services, the framework covers only the lease of products, the acquisition of any products you require the leasing of must be sourced separately.

Leasing through the Vehicle Hire framework however is very much the same as leasing a vehicle for private use, where the lease is provided by the company providing the vehicle.

When putting forward a quote for the leasing of vehicles the following information should be included as a minimum to allow suppliers to provide an accurate quotation:

• Type of vehicle required (car, minibus etc.)
• Transmission (automatic/manual)
• Fuel type (diesel/petrol)
• Type of license owned by driver
• Preferred duration of lease (3, 4 or 5 years etc.)
• Mileage per year
• Details of any servicing you require

Minibus LITE

The lease of “Minibus LITE” can be provided under the framework, however they are more expensive than a conventional minibus and can be difficult to source. Due to this it may be advisable to have a lease period of over 3 years to keep payments down.

Minibus LITE can be driven on a standard “B” car license under the following circumstances:

• The driver is 21 or older
• They had their driving license for at least 2 years
• They meet “Group 2” medical standards if they are over 70
• They are driving on a voluntary basis and there is no payment from or on behalf of the passengers
• The maximum weight of the minibus is not more than 3.5 tonnes (or 4.25 tonnes including specialist equipment for disabled passengers e.g. a wheelchair ramp)
• The driver is not towing a trailer
