Last chance to submit Procurement Bill views

Published

A small window remains for those wishing to help shape the final form of the Procurement Bill, the proposed overhaul of legislation poised to affect public procurement practices across England, Wales and Northern Ireland in 2023.

Last month, we revisited the Procurement Bill on its legislative journey, alerting CPC members to TV coverage of the Bill's Second Reading in the Commons.

The Bill has been addressed at Committee Stage since 31st January, with cross-party examination of it set to continue in the first two weeks of February.

An overview of this process and exactly what it entails can be found via this link.

Members are informed that the Committee Stage encompasses an ongoing call for evidence, allowing those with experience or expertise related to the Procurement Bill and/or a particular interest in it to submit their own views; views which might then be considered before any complete Bill is finalised.

The Committee is scheduled to report its determinations by Thursday 23rd February.

Anyone wishing to contribute written evidence (and potentially influence elements of the Bill) is advised the Committee will be unable to accept any outside submissions after ending its consideration period.

This may happen significantly sooner than their 23rd February deadline.

As such, our advice is to send any views on the Bill to [email protected] as soon as possible, thus allowing sufficient time for evaluation.
