Has your institution considered the environmental and wellbeing benefits of planting trees, not to mention that sense of lasting pride and ownership pupils might experience by bringing such natural wonder to life?
As its largest woodland conservation charity, the Woodland Trust believes that everyone across the United Kingdom should have the opportunity to plant a tree themselves, with this evergreen non-profit company enabling the planting of more than 50 million trees in total, since its formation in 1972.
Having outlined how the UK requires millions more new trees by 2050 to reach its carbon net-zero targets, the Woodland Trust is currently offering a variety of free tree packs for education establishments to plant and enjoy.
These include selections of urban trees, as well as working wood, wild wood, wild harvest, copse, hedge and year-round colour options, plus the chance to develop shelter for wildlife with trees especially suited to animal visitors.
Whether looking to grow your own fruit and nuts, dry up wet areas or create real natural beauty, there are multiple options available for schools and academies to consider, with FE colleges and universities likewise welcomed to explore the possibilities of tree planting via the Trust.
With trees supplied sourced and grown in the UK and Ireland, the Woodland Trust makes two annual deliveries, in March and then November, thus institutions can now apply for tree packs to be delivered in the year’s penultimate month. Please note, the application window is anticipated to close in August, or earlier, pending availability.
