CPC was delighted to support the UK-wide launch of We're Off to the Big School, with almost 45,000 Year 6 pupils from 965 schools taking part in the 2026 event.
Designed to help pupils prepare for one of the biggest milestones in their education this free transition programme, delivered in partnership with Tree of Knowledge (TOK), provides practical guidance and reassurance as children get ready to move from primary to secondary school.
Supporting pupils through an important transition
Moving to secondary school can be an exciting but daunting experience for many young people. We're Off to the Big School aims to make that journey a little easier by providing engaging, age-appropriate resources that help pupils feel more confident about the transition ahead.
Featuring practical advice on what to expect during their first few weeks to tips on making new friends and settling into a new routine, the campaign equips pupils with the knowledge and confidence to begin the next chapter of their education.
This year's event saw fantastic engagement, with:

Thousands of teachers and school staff supporting classroom activities using the campaign resources
This demonstrates the continued demand for high-quality resources that support schools, pupils and families during the transition to secondary school.
Plans for 2027
The continued success of We're Off to the Big School highlights the positive impact the campaign is having in schools across the country.
