Facilitating professional guidance, idea shares and networking around the UK, CPC's own Procurement Advisory Group (PAG) held a one-off summer special in the first week of July.
The purpose of this latest assembly was to update stakeholders on the progress/status of Procurement Act 2023 as it approaches legal implementation in October, relaying knowledge and supplying an update on what measures CPC is taking to support its members after the summer break.
Hosted by CPC Customer Engagement Manager, Jack Horton, the event saw CPC Learning & Development Lead, Mark Pearson, offer a question-and-answer session centred around the Act, with Mark now heading up CPC’s own dedicated Procurement Taskforce that aims to enhance the level of Procurement Act understanding and assistance CPC members can access henceforth.
Recent weeks have meanwhile seen CPC staff undertaking the Transforming Public Procurement programme’s extensive e-learning offering, updating and upgrading their knowledge sets in line with the new Act’s obligations. This thorough online training course is available for your own use here.
Please be advised that a user account will require creating prior to initiation of the training programme.
With its branches in different parts of the United Kingdom addressing localised issues, as well as the wider procurement challenges faced by the education sector, CPC’s member institutions are encouraged to become involved in their nearest Procurement Advisory Group (PAG) in the next academic year; something which may support their procurement undertakings on various levels.
Originally established in 2010, the PAG events can act as fertile ground for stakeholder discussion, giving platforms to new ideas, underscoring successful practice and fuelling future improvement. Furthermore, these get-togethers provide education professionals with a direct connection to CPC, which can help to shape the future policy and strategy of our 10,000+ member organisation.
Aware of the time commitment constraints many institutions may face, PAG has also evolved in recent months to offer ‘PAG Presents’, a series of targeted webinar presentations that focus on specific subjects which could be of interest, or concern, to establishments within our sector.
The most recent ‘PAG Presents’ webinar in June perhaps inevitably covered the same hot topic of Procurement Act 2023, reviewing notices contained within the new Act and what their purposes are. Varying from the familiar to the new, each connect to the aim of ‘transparency by default’, with attendees of June’s ‘PAG Presents’ able to benefit from CPC’s informed analysis/insight.
