Protect your institutions budget by securing your energy contract early

One of the keys to optimising your institutions running costs is to act well in advance of your energy contract’s expiry date. Should you have an energy contract that is due to expire before April 2019, we advise you to get in touch with the Energy Help Desk as early as possible for the best opportunity to optimise your costs and protect your budget.

The current period of pricing may present an optimal time to reprocure your energy supply as market conditions are relatively stable at present following an elevated period over the winter and the future market uncertainty due to Brexit. You will significantly increase the chances of getting the best value for your institution by getting in touch early as it will gives a bigger window to track market pricing and get the best rates.

We have created a ‘basket’ purchasing opportunity for CPC members which is a way of pooling the bulk buying power of a group of buying organisations to get more competitive prices. Most educational establishments traditionally have a 31st March or 30th September contract end date for their energy supply so our ‘basket’ purchasing opportunities have April or October contract start dates. Members who wish to participate in a ‘basket’ are asked to express their interest to the Energy Help Desk as early as possible as this give a greater opportunity to track the market and achieve lower energy rates. Members interested in participating in the April ‘basket’ have until 28th February to express their interest to the Energy Helpdesk.

Members are requested to complete a ‘Letter of Authority’ template (on their institutions letterheaded paper) and a supply information template and send to our framework supplier UPG via email in order to confirm their requirements. More information about the framework and template documents are available on the CPC’s Utilities Supplies & Services Framework web page.

Should you wish to discuss your energy requirements please contact the dedicated Energy Help Desk on 03453 020041 or [email protected]
