The first training products have been released by the Cabinet Office in respect of the procurement reforms, comprised of a series of short videos explaining how the rules are going to be changing from October 2024.
Promoted as 'Knowledge Drops', these videos have been designed to provide a high-level overview of the changes coming to the procurement regulations and aimed at those who have regular interactions with procurement. If you work in a school, academy, multi academy trust, FE college or HE institution, you are classed as a 'Contracting Authority', so please make sure your senior finance and procurement colleagues are aware of the link below.

The videos are aimed at those who have regular interactions with procurement with some level of understanding of the new legislation, such as suppliers, senior leaders at executive or political level, finance directors, service commissioners, policy makers. Likewise, they also support the learning of other non-procurement professionals who interact with tender processes or manage contracts, lawyers who may not specialise in procurement and digital and data teams but will also be a useful introduction for procurement or commercial professionals who will go on to complete the more in-depth L&D products. There are now separate Knowledge Drops for Contracting Authorities, Suppliers, VCSE and SME suppliers, plus accompanying fact sheets that outline the specific differences for Wales, Northern Ireland, utilities, light touch, defence and security, concessions and schools.
Don’t forget the CPL Group, Crescent Purchasing Consortium and Tenet Education Services have a dedicated team of procurement professionals who are following all these changes closely, so if you would like to have a conversation about how we can help you, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our learning arm, CPL Learning, will also be sharing information with our members and suppliers as more is released.
