CPC’s Paint and Decorating Supplies framework continues to offer great value for money in the form of discounts of up to 63.5% off the recommended retail price of high-quality paint and other decorating products. Due to significant changes in the market, there have been some updates to pricing from framework providers.
Sharon Sutton of Crown Paints has provided the following statement to supplement their new pricing effective from 1st September 2021 for all non-core items:
“Crown Paints have continued to manage pressures on our cost-base during 2021. However, in spite of the significant efforts undertaken to mitigate the impact of the raw material increases that we have incurred, it has now become necessary to review our pricing structure in order to maintain the quality of products and services to your members. From 1st September 2021 we will be implementing an average 3.7% price increase.
Global demand and capacity restrictions within the wider supply-chain have heightened in recent months, as widely reported within the industry and mainstream media, primarily impacting on:
- Packaging – tinplate and polypropylene packaging
- Raw materials – titanium dioxide, binders, polymers and solvents
- Freight – container shipping costs have quadrupled and localised distribution, customs & broker fees have all continued to increase at unprecedented levels
On a positive note, for customers utilising the Crescent Purchasing Consortium’s (CPC) framework, we are offering discounted prices of up to 63.5% off the RRP of our products. We are also helping members save costs and aid CSR targets by taking back empty cans, plastic tools, roller trays, empty sealant tubes and recycling them.”
Ian Gisbourne of JP McDougall (trading as Dulux Decorator Centres) has similarly offered the following statement that relates to their increases from 1st November 2021:
“Throughout 2020 Dulux Decorator Centre continued to be exposed to increased cost pressure. Unfortunately, this significant pressure has continued throughout 2021 and the paints industry is currently faced with an extremely challenging landscape in terms of cost of production. This challenge is driven by a combination of factors, including market wide cost inflation of raw materials and packaging which is further compounded by increased costs of ongoing logistics constraints impacting on the movement of goods and materials globally.
Though we are conscious of the impact that changing our prices on 1st January 2021 will have had on our valued customer base, it is now necessary to implement a further price increase. Please be advised that all Dulux Decorator Centre 360 customers will see an increase in the price of AkzoNobel paint by 3.5% while all accessories and 3rd party supplied products will increase by 5%, both effective from 1st November 2021.
We are committed to providing value for money for our education customers and we made the decision to delay this rise until after the Summer to ensure that most projects could be completed. The price rise has been applied to all customers and the combined buying power of CPC members means that the new prices still provide an excellent discount vs RRP of up to 35%. Additionally, you still can get recycling and product advice included with your account as usual.”
PPG Architectural Coatings are still in the process of reviewing their prices as per the same supply chain issues highlighted by the other framework providers. An update on any price changes will be sent out as soon as this information has been collated and agreed. PPG have however confirmed that members are still able to gain a substantial discount off RRP for any purchases made through the framework.
Updated price lists will be made available on the individual supplier pages on the CPC website on the respective dates price increases come into effect. Members should rest assured that CPC and the suppliers on the Paint and Decorating Supplies framework are doing their utmost to minimise the impacts these circumstances have on their purchases and take comfort that they are still obtaining best value for money through this arrangement.
