The Public Procurement (Amendment Etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020 have been laid before Parliament. Once made official, amendments will be made to ensure public procurement law operates effectively after the end of the transition period and include new requirements on publication of notices for new procurements. Full details on the new notice publication scheme – Find a Tender Service can be found on our EU Exit dedicated news page.
However, the bigger question is, what is next for public sector procurement regulations post Brexit?
Details are limited at this time, however we do know a Green Paper is due to be issued in mid-December 2020 to consult on any proposed amendments to public sector procurement regulations for the future. The consultation process is expected to last until mid-February 2021.
Any interested party can respond to the Green Paper and here at the CPL Group, we are keen to support our members and clients in doing this. Please look out for further communications from us on how we will be seeking your views and responding to the Green Paper in the New Year.
