CPC Procurement Consultant Victoria Gibbon is based at Middlesborough College one day a week as part of our Managed Procurement Services offer.
She has recently been involved in a project to help set up their state-of-the-art virtual hospital ward which involved procuring some unusual items, including a pregnancy simulation empathy suit, embryo and foetus models, birthing simulator and geriatric manikin.
The new training ward was officially opened by celebrity doctor and TV celebrity Dr Ranj Singh in early June and throughout the lifecycle of this project, Victoria has procured a whole myriad of things required for a project of this scope, size and specialism.
From building and electrical works, furniture, medical trollies to simulated headboards, advanced trauma equipment even an immersive learning suite which can be used to simulate different situations and scenarios to help the students learn practically.
Reflecting at the opening of the new ward Victoria said, “This has been a truly amazing project to work on because you can see how it’s really going to benefit the learning of all the students at the College and hopefully it will propel them to bigger things in their future careers.’
Other items required included: glucose hands, pregnancy series models, nasal feeding tube trainers, chocking Charlie, baby and newborn CPR manikins, inspiration cot, teen training manikin with body trauma, sensory lights/tube and birthing bed.
Victoria has worked closely with Clinical Advanced Practitioner in Health and Social Care Jacqui McKirdy on this project who said, “It’s been a delight to work with Victoria and Crescent Consultancy on the set up of our new virtual hospital ward, nothing was ever too much trouble and we’ve had to get some items which aren’t run of the mill which Victoria was able to source for us.”
