Jewson Partnership Solutions support communities

Published

We are pleased to share this update from Jewson Partnership Solutions, showcasing JPS charity and community initiatives and their social value.

Social value is something JPS are extremely passionate about. The organisation carries out various initiatives to support the communities they work in and also partners with charities in their efforts to have a positive impact on people.

This year, JPS are delighted to continue their support of Greggs Breakfast club, ensuring children at schools in areas of high deprivation receive a healthy and nutritious breakfast.  More than half a million children go to school hungry every day and by providing funding, JPS are helping the fight against food poverty and helping families who are struggling to make ends meet during the cost of living crisis. As well as providing direct funding, JPS also go above and beyond and in 2022 the team walked 20 miles from Holy Island to Bamburgh Castle to raise vital funds for the breakfast clubs.

Continuing their efforts to support those struggling in these difficult times, JPS also support FareShare - a charity taking good quality surplus food from across the food industry and distributing it to thousands of frontline charities and community groups.  JPS recently volunteered their services at a hub in Lancashire, spending an extremely busy morning working in the warehouse to help the charity create food parcels ready to feed their local communities. FareShare (Lancashire and Cumbria) delivered 3 million meals and diverted 1,300 tonnes of food from waste in 2022. Instead of going to waste, the food reaches local families, elderly peoples’ lunch clubs, homeless shelters, community cafes and children’s nurseries to name a few.

JPS are also passionate about providing opportunities for young, disadvantaged people and their partnership with the charity Youthbuild, is vitally important. By partnering with Youthbuild, JPS are providing young people with the opportunity to improve their lives and access training and employment opportunities.  Through gaining new skills via the Youthbuild academies, young people can pursue a career within the construction industry and gain qualifications and employment within Youthbuilders, the charity’s social enterprise funded by JPS.

As well as partnering with these vital charities, JPS carry out a plethora of community activities - from community clean up days in deprived areas, to supporting women in DIY training courses; from providing materials and building supplies to community projects to delivering employability workshops to people who are long-term unemployed. Often, JPS teams can be found supporting schools - either through their roles as Enterprise Advisors, by attending Career Insight days or offering help during Mock Interview days.
